McFatty Monday Week #7 Results

Jason is totally beating me in the challenge. I'm really proud of him, but I've got to get going!!

My 2 major faults this week:
1. I haven't been planning my school lunches and guess what?!?! A school cafeteria is not very Atkins friendly.

2. I had to eat carb-rich food at the Byrnes football game this Saturday... then I proceded to feel as sick as a dog. You should never eat nothing but carbs after abstaining for so long....

Weight loss results for this week:

Jason- 1.8- 14.8 pounds... YALL... I'm SO going to lose!!
Alicia- +1 pound- 11.2 pounds

I believe it's considered politically incorrect for an overweight person to give weight loss advice but..... you know the atkins thing is terrible for you, right?

In 2007 I lost 50 pounds in about 5 months by not eating any carbs except for whole grains as well as eating lean meats, and fruits/vegetables. You really do need carbs in your diet, but its the KIND of carbs you eat that's important.

I know doing Atkins will help you to drop weight quick (I did that too once and lost 25 pounds), but to truly be healthy you need a balance in your diet, not a complete elimination of THE major food group! :) If all you do is switch from white bread to whole grain bread, it'll make a huge difference in the way that you feel. And I noticed I stayed fuller a LOT longer when I ate whole grains.

Unfortunately I didn't stick with it, but I am on the wagon again and will continue to be for the next year. I want to lose weight before getting married and plan on keeping it up afterward as well. Luckily Ronnie likes eating healthy, so that is a plus.

Okay no more lecture!!! :)

I forgot to congratulate you on your weight loss so far though!! You are doing great! And weighing less than you did when you found out you were pregnant is a GREAT accomplishment. So many women can not say that!!! I am proud of you! :)

Love ya girl!!

Hey girl, no, no, no... I totally share many of your same beliefs.

I said we're on no carb, but we're actually on a low carb kind of diet, and just being very picky about the kinds of carbs we eat.

I still eat all my veggies (except maybe only one potato a week instead of one a day), and get some good protein. We also eat berries, and nuts...

So, long story short, basically we're just cutting out processed foods.

That is good!! :) I hope I didn't sound too preachy. Believe it or not, this is a subject I get kinda passionate about for some reason. I wish I did a better job at following my own advice! lol. Its definitely easier said than done.

But I am glad that you're still eating the good carbs. True Atkins is bad to cut out EVERYTHING, especially fruits and vegetables and making you live on nothing but meat and eggs. It's a terrible diet. But I totally agree that eating less carbs (especially the processed stuff) is a good thing.

If you can eat the most natural version of your foods, then you will be fine. That's what I am trying to do for the most part.

I saw an episode of Oprah recently, and this man said, "never eat anything that won't rot" which sounds kinda silly, but actually a lot of food that people eat has so many chemicals and preservatives in them that they will keep in their package for years and years without rotting at all. They also said to not eat any food that has ingredients that a 3rd grader cant pronounce. So I am trying to follow both of those rules right now! :) I'm actually doing pretty good at it so far. That Oprah show did an adequate job at grossing me out about America's food industry. I'm not sure I'll ever see fast food the same way every again.
