Afternoon in Pictures

I love Wednesdays... especially during marching season. As exciting as it is to get a field show ready to compete, I enjoy leaving work and coming home to spend time with Jason and Grayson. Today was no different. We had a great time playing outside together this afternoon!!

Grayson decided to try out his sandbox...

After a few minutes he really liked it!!

I think this is the funniest Gordo face, ever. :)

Then, he found a rock.

Right before this picture, he found this football and decided that he needed his Daddy.

Love my boys!!

After all the rain we've had, our backyard is full of mushrooms. What does Jason decide to do?? Pick them up and throw them over the fence.... guess what the little one decides to do?? The same thing.

So proud of himself.

He is definitely a Daddy's boy!

Rock-A-Bye Baby

This is a video... but the sound is all I wanted to record. This clip is of Grayson singing "Rock-A-Bye Baby"... (In all actuality he is making up mostly nonsense words to the song, but I still think it is cute!) Don't pay attention to the strange mommy singing!!!

Two-Year-Olds Are Awesome

I've decided that two year olds are kind of awesome.

My afternoon went something like this...

I picked up Grayson at Stephanie's house. He was excited to see me, but disappointed to be leaving. (I'm happy he missed me, but even happier that he can express that he enjoys where he stays during the day!)

We came home, had a snack, and then he played while I had a chance to start a load of clothes and clean up upstairs. (I've been missing out on this little "independent play" gem for much of the past 2 years!)

He ate dinner (which was really just a few chicken nuggets since he had a good snack a couple of hours ago), and decided that he was too big to sit in "his" seat. A regular chair works just fine, thank you very much. (I just smile, I like that he thinks he is so grown up.)

Then it was time for his bath. He wanted a bubble bath (which he was sure to let me know) and I told him to let Dad undress him. He walked over to Jason and immediately pulled up his shirt.

Bath time was funny. He passed gas, laughed, and said "I tooted!"

Tonight he requested to read his "Horsey, Neigh" book (the newest arrival from the Imagination Library).  We read a few pages together and then he flipped through the rest and said "Good Book!"

Next, he wanted to rock and sing. He sang "Rock-A-Bye Baby, On Da Tee-Top" at the top of his lungs... then we sang it a few times together before he told me he needed to go "Night, Night", gave me a kiss and sent me on my way...

I think I'm loving the two-year-old thing.

Saturday Morning Fun

Will you read this book to me, Mommy??

Now it is time to choose another book!!

Grandma and Papa came and dropped off Grayson's birthday present from me and Jason. It has been sitting at their house since his birthday, but I think it looks cute in his room!!

Sweet little table.

Coloring and watching Blue's Clues, what more could a sick boy ask for??

Sick Grayster

Our Grayster is sick.

Earlier this week I scheduled Grayson's 2 year old well-check for yesterday. The appointment was in the afternoon, and I decided to take a half day at work so that Jason and I could take him together.

After working in the morning, I checked my phone before I got in the car... Ms. Kelly had just sent a text saying that Grayson had a fever. I hurried over to her house. When I got there his little cheeks were flushed and his eyes just didn't look like Grayson eyes. I knew he was sick.

So, our well visit turned into a sick visit. Grayson was scared and cried throughout the entire appointment (which he has NEVER done before). After the doctor was done with his exam, we went into his office to talk about Grayson's development. Our little boy fell asleep in my arms as we talked. Sick, sick, sick.

Anyway, the doctor did a strep test and it came back positive. Dr. Wylie faxed our prescription to CVS and we were on our way.

He has been so lethargic at the house. Just hanging around. He will never sit still for very long, but the past two days he has been so cuddly and tired.

As of now, he has been on antibiotics for 24 hours. I think he'll probably begin to feel better tomorrow, and be back to his normal self by Sunday... we'll see, as of now, we're enjoying the extra cuddle time. :)

Printing Photos

So, a couple of weeks ago I discovered Mpix.com. My life might never be the same.

Before then, I used snapfish for any photo prints I wanted. They were fine, but when my mom wanted to print one of my magnolia pictures in a 16x20, Snapfish just couldn't provide us with what we needed.

Several amateur photographers mentioned loving Mpix, so I decided to give them a go.... Holy Moly gorgeous. I will never look back.

Anyway, I got that 16x20 printed with a matboard placed underneath. It was amazing... seriously, I doubted that I even took the photo.

If you get anything printed and want to be super amazed, I heard that you should choose the metallic paper. Of course, that was recommended to me AFTER I placed my first order.

Anyway... look how good these prints turned out:

I've decided this picture doesn't do the prints justice... yall, they are super nice.

I'm not near blog savvy enough to write something that someone will sponsor. I really did like my order, I really did pay for my order, and I really have already ordered again, haha!

Art Project

Grayson came home with the sweetest art project today. Tonight, it sits on my fridge. I might just have to get it framed... that little tree trunk arm is way too sweet.

Two Years

My itty bitty baby turned two on Sunday.

Sometimes it feels like we've only had him for a few minutes... other times I find myself trying to remember what life was like without him.

He has changed me...

I'm a different teacher now. I see Grayson in all of my students and sincerely want the best for each of them. Sad stories of kids absolutely break my heart now in a way that those stories never could touch me before. I don't think you have to be a mom to be a great teacher, but I do think Grayson has made me a better teacher.

I take time to enjoy the simple things in life (that sometimes shouldn't be enjoyed at all!). This summer has been so hot that we've had a terrible problem with ants at our house, and I promise we're doing everything there is to do to control them. Does that bother Grayson... NO!! He has been known to say, "Bye, bugs" as we leave the house... I have been known to laugh.

I find myself counting down the hours until I can see my family. I sometimes have to get Grayson out of his crib for one extra snuggle at night. Even when Grayson is in full fit mode, I'd still rather be home with him than anywhere else in the world.

So... two years... where did you go???

Birthday Celebrations Part #2

Since we celebrated with my family last night, we traveled down to Columbia to celebrate Grayson's birthday with his side of the family today! We had a lot of fun and the weather was really nice-- not too hot and not rainy!!

Grayson's Nana made the cake. She said there are three candles because she always gives you "one to grown on".
This is when Grayson was ready to go swimming... NOW!!

I like this picture because JuJu and Daddy are doing all of the candle blowing!!

Yep... this really happened.

Grayson says, "What was I thinking?!!"

Grayson's Birthday Celebrations Part #1

This year, we decided to make Grayson's birthday celebrations very simple. Today we got together with our family to celebrate two birthdays!!! Grayson and Alexis had a great little party!

Enjoy some pictures from our fun!

A cupcake tower for Alexis...

and one for Grayson, too!

So excited!!

Sitting at his big boy table, his birthday gift from Mommy and Daddy.

Sweet baby

It is time to sing!!

Blow out those candles, guys!!

It took Grayson a little bit of time (and finally some help from Daddy) to blow out his candle!
Yummy cupcakes

Such a handsome boy!
