A Potty Training "Give Up" Story

After two failed attempts, potty training is something I don't want to even think about for a long, long time.

A few days ago, I mentioned how frustrated I was with potty training on Facebook. I received a ton of responses and most of the "seasoned" parents just said, "He'll figure it out when he is ready". That viewpoint was also shared by one of my FB friends who is an area pediatrician. Apparently this method takes the absolute longest (go figure), but is less stressful for the parent and kid...

SO- why do I still feel a tad bit guilty when I hear about the successes my friends' kids (who are younger than Grayster) are having with potty training?!?!

He will get it when he is ready, I know it, he is super duper smart. I hope for you though that it is sooner rather than later, I know you are ready for it to happen. Just encourage him still and keep asking if he would like to sit on it before bath time and such. Perrin was 2 years and 9 months and it took him 2 days. He will get there sooner than you think. It will just happen one day, promise!!

We tend to compare ourselves with others and we think we are bad parents if our kids are not doing what others are. It really doesn't matter what the others are doing....If I had only I realized that when I was a young mother. My stress would have been less and so would have the girls.
Parenting is hard.

It will come and he and you will be happy!
